Director of Safety, Compliance and Fleet

Job Summary:

 

Kush Energy is looking for a Director of Safety, Compliance and Fleet responsible for developing, implementing, and directing safety programs, claims management, and compliance with government regulatory agencies and corporate operating procedures. Additionally, this position will manage DOT compliance and fleet management.

 

Receives Direction From:

 

Vice President, Kush Energy

 

 

Provides Direction to:

 

Lead vendors, all Kush Energy Employees in safety and compliance

 

 

Examples of Essential Functions:

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Champions and promotes a strong safety and compliance culture implementing strategic programs to ensure associate safety and company regulatory compliance
  • Represents Kush Energy on regional regulatory issues and audits/inspections by government entities. Actively assists legal counsel with technical aspects of litigation involving compressed gases, cylinders & bulk storage vessels, associated filling and transfer equipment, and trucking operations
  • Provides senior leadership and guidance on Kush's Incident Review Committee
  • Provides executive analysis of significant risk data by evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives through safety assessments and compiling and interpreting data to identify gaps. Develops and implements action plans as necessary to mitigate risks
  • Directs training to develop innovative, impactful and meaningful safety training programs. Designs, directs, and conducts training and audits on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) including the Safety Manual, and Transportation Manual
  • Establishes safety goals and implements a safety performance process. Oversees investigations are performed for all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE), Process Safety, and Department of Transportation (DOT) related incidents. Partners with insurance carriers to manage accident claims
  • Partners with Senior Management on all potential acquisitions from the perspective of Safety & Compliance issues prior to the acquisition, all the way through integration
  • Works in partnership with leadership team members on all HSE and Risk Management issues
  • Initiates activities designed to empower location managers and associates to lead safety efforts within the organization
  • Special projects and responsibilities as assigned

 

 

Qualifications Guidelines

 

 

Education/training/experience:

 

  • A minimum of 5 years of safety & compliance experience demonstrating increasing leadership responsibility in positions within a production and/or distribution environment
  • Prior demonstrated experience in building, implementing, maintaining and tracking safety and compliance initiatives in a safety or operations role required
  • Detailed understanding of state and federal safety regulations as they pertain to Kush Energy and industry best practices in safety engagement and enhancement including FDA, DOT, EPA & OSHA regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related degree field required
  • Post graduate degree preferred
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification preferred

  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and operating a computer workstation
  • Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key
  • Able to participate in the environments standing, moving onsite at events and tradeshows
  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials
  • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
