Senior Director of Custom Product Development and Project Management

Job Summary

This individual will be responsible for leading cross functional activities to deliver custom products and projects. Responsibilities include managing regional program managers, product portfolio strategy and day-to-day business execution. This cross functional role will include management of product road map design, product development, procurement, production and distribution of the custom products.

 

Receives Direction From:

Sr. VP of Operations

 

Provides Direction to:

Vendors, suppliers, sales, finance, project managers, sourcing, purchasing, Value added-services and warehouse teams

 

Examples of Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

General

  • Project and time management: Plan tasks and deliverables accurately, prioritize tasks and adapt as needed based upon changing priorities. Responsive to requests, accountable for actions
  • Problem-solving: Prevent and solve issues, understand and mitigate problems, recognize cause and effect relationships between functions
  • Cross-functional collaboration and communication
  • Developing Staff (increasing competence and engagement)
  • Customer focus: Understand and monitor the needs of internal and external customers of the Custom product development and project development

 

Custom Product Development - Project Management

Success: To development and implement Kush Supply Co to have world-class Custom Product Development and Project Management process, delivering high quality products on time and minimizing operational costs

 

  • Ability to manage large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces and execute, develop functional processes, and deliver them in a successful and timely manner
  • Clearly and accurately communicate with cross functional teams for troubleshooting, problem solving, and mitigating potential risk or delays
  • Manage multiple design projects with a sense of urgency, carefully prioritizing tasks to meet targets and schedules
  • Manage and own all aspects of the entire Global Custom Product Lifecycle of product - from concept to delivery, to include seamless coordination and global execution including but not limited to: sales, finance approval, design approval, place orders, production, X-factory dates and deliver to customers
  • Partner with Commercial colleagues to ensure pricing framework enables field sales success by determining optimal catalog prices, providing appropriate level of pricing/discounting, responding to competitive opportunities, and meeting profitability objectives
  • Provide product application training, including competitive strategies and responses for all sales channels
  • Build, lead and develop the product management team including: talent acquisition, training, and enablement for success. Responsible to enable a high performing business team through effective coaching and development
  • Communicate project status updates to various project stakeholders, including team members and executives. Synthesize a multitude of issues into a clear, concise and focused message. Present with confidence and brevity
  • Manager/owner mentality, entrepreneurial drive, and proven ability take ownership and influence others
  • Support, develop, and manage work instructions, documentation, and corrective action plans as part of continuous improvement model

 

 

Qualifications Guidelines

 

Education/training/experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of product development project management experience
  • PMP- Project Manager Professional or 6 Six-Sigma Black Belt or equivalent certification is required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization (English)
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in supply chain, procurement, product development, inventory planning, finance or related field with an emphasis on program management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Established project management skills
  • Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
  • Understands Team value and has ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change

 

Knowledge of:

  • 6 Sigma, Lean Experience, Quality Control, Vendor Management Inventory, Kaizens, Workouts, Process mapping, improved productivity
  • Product life-cycle management software
  • Understanding Team value and has ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change
  • Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS-Project skills

 

Physical Standards

  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials in manufacturing
  • Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key
  • Able to periodically participate in the inspection of company machinery and operations
  • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less
  • Reasonable accommodations will be considered which would allow the employee to perform the essential functions of this job
  • Constantly sitting, standing, walking, and operating a computer workstation

 

Travel:

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
